Biology Extra Credit Assignment - MP 1
Welcome overachievers and procrastinators! The extra credit assignment for the marking period is described below.

Option #1 - Compose and Perform a Song
  • Compose a song (original or re-written from existing lyrics) about a topic. (see below) The song lyrics must be original and authentic!
  • The song lyrics must be a minimum of 30 lines in length. (no maximum)
  • The song lyrics should be typed and printed for grading purposes.
  • You must present your song to the class. (sing, rap, etc...)
  • Note: Single projects only. Any additional "helpers" in your piece will not receive bonus points.
  • WORTH 10 bonus points! (added to your overall test/quiz average)


Option #2 - Make an Educational Film
  • Make an educational video about a topic. (see below) It must be an original piece! (a news report, iMovie, etc...)
  • It must be a minimum of 5 minutes. (no maximum)
  • It must be able to be saved to Ms. Holloway's computer for grading purposes..
  • You must present your film to the class. (either live or recorded ahead of time)
  • Note: Single projects only. Any additional "helpers" in your piece will not receive bonus points.
  • WORTH 10 bonus points! (added to your overall test/quiz average)


Option #3 - Write and Illustrate a Children's Book
  • Write and Illustrate a children's book about a biological topic. (see below) It must be an original piece!
  • The book will help explain a complex topic in a simplified, clear way. The book must have a minimum of 15 pages and should include illustrations that help explain your topic.
  • You must read and present your book to the class.
  • Note: Single projects only. Any additional "helpers" will not receive bonus points.
  • WORTH 10 bonus points! (added to your overall test/quiz average)


Topic Options:
  • The Scientific Method and the Metric System
  • Atoms and the Periodic Table
  • Properties of Water as well as the pH scale, Acids, and Bases
(Note: Your project may be about all of these topics, or just one specifically)




All extra credit presentations will take place during your Biology class periods on:
Tuesday, November 20th and Wednesday, November 21st
(No exceptions to the date! You must be present in school to receive the bonus points!)
